Day 8: Tracon 2015 through photos

Sorry that I'm a day late. I guess I've just been so effing tired and after the seminar for my master's thesis I just wanted to sleep but I actually spent the evening cleaning my apartment for the holidays.
And I've actually had a hard time with if I should make this post or not as I don't really have that many photos of Tracon.. but still I ended making this post, haha.

I was working as a cosplay worker once again and as I spent most of Saturday at the backstage I didn't wear a costume that day. I was also very tired afterwards so I left to my friends place pretty early. On Sunday I was also working but had cosplay plans with a friend. So I wore my Beast costume again (the one I made to Frostbite). I only got individual photos during the day and in the evening we went to have a little photoshoot. I haven't had time to edit any actual photoshoot photos so I only have one and I decided to add it at the end of this post! :)

Friday evening, pizza time!!

Before leaving to the con, I was walking my dog.

I was wearing my rainboots as it was supposed to rain... and it didn't!
Do I look important? Good. (We were in the elevator and on our way to get food from green room)

Stage things, the hosts were practicing their opening for the show.

Had a break and went to eat, I decided to take some selfies.

SUNDAY! Again selfies in the elevator!

I chaged into costume during our break, still kept some of my normal clothing on.

After the competitions I got time to have fun with friends, here me and Ninnu decided to take pretty selfies as we were done shooting my costume and just talked a little and enjoyed the sun.
While we were just sitting on the bench with Ninnu, Alberto Mardegan photography came by and took photos of us!
At the evening we went to shoot Beast and Joker with Chamira as our photographer!

Day 7: Costume reveal for Desucon Frostbite!

Today I had one biiig deadline at university, so that's why today's post will be a little shorter as I'm tired as hell. I worked all weekend on my report and finished it just in time!

So, I decided to reveal my first new costume for Desucon Frostbite! And it's Chocola Meilleure! Some may remember that I have already cosplayed her once, but I've wanted to make this outfit of hers too and as my other costume (still a secret) is more complex it's nice to have at least one simple and comfy costume with me!

I've also been wondering if people would be interested hearing about my clothing design studies? Because I've been thinking if I could write about that too.. even though it's not quite cosplay related. So, anyone interested?

Day 6: Why Cosplay?

Thaki had made a nice post about how and why he started this fine hobby of his. At the end of the post he kinda challenged others to do the same. And I thought "why not?". I can't remember that I would have ever shared the story of how and why I started cosplaying and as I'm making this calendar kinda thingy I think that this topic is actually pretty suitable theme to blog about. So, he had some questions written down for others to answer to and those were:

1. How did you start cosplaying?
2. What makes cosplay an important hobby to you?
3. Why do you cosplay?

So let's begin, shall we?

First of all I got more into this manga and anime business when I was in 7th grade I guess? My friends back then were the "cool chicks" and I didn't know anything about manga. I had been watching Pokémon, Sailor Moon and other animes from tv (but at the time I didn't know they were called anime) though. During the spring of 7th grade I started hanging out with my bff and got more into manga and actually I really liked her drawings back then and that also inspired me to start drawing in that style. During the summer of 2006 my bff visited Finncon-Animecon and came back and told me about the event and showed photos too. That got me really excited and I guess it was her idea to go to Finncon-Animecon again in the summer of 2007 and I went along with her. I just can't quite remember how we got into making our own costumes but we ended up cosplaying Kairi and Naminé together with her. And after that we were super excited to go to another convention and to cosplay more and I guess I have just stayed on that road? My bff hasn't cosplayed in a long time which is sad as it used to be so much fun to cosplay together.

I'm not sharing you any photos of my first cosplay here, but if you want to see it you can just go check it on my facebook page. (I linked the photo, you are welcome.)

The second question is actually pretty hard. Because I haven't thought about this question that much. But I guess why cosplay is important to me is partly because of my past with it. Like starting the hobby with my bff and still cosplaying together with my friends is really important part of this hobby for me. Also I guess it has became a habit of mine and a way of life? I do cosplay characters that I really like, but cosplay isn't nowdays so much of showing the fangirl in me like it was back when I started. One reason to cosplay is also that I get to make things by hand and learn new things and make new friends constantly. I guess my reasons may seem a little shallow for some, but cosplay is really important even though I can't maybe show that well why it is important for me.

I actually think that questions 2 and 3 have pretty much the same answer.

Hopefully this post was any fun to read, sorry that I didn't write longer one, I just think a post full of text and no photos can be a little too much to handle. At least for me, haha :D

(Happy independence day to Finland, yay!)

Day 5: The Bimbettes

So, last time I posted all the pics I had taken or that I had found of me from Desucon. Today I thought that it would be fun to share some actual photoshoot pictures! All of these have been taken by the loveliest Yaci and she has also edited them! She does have some more, so let's hope I get my hands on those soon too so that I can share more awesome Bimbetteness with you guys!

Day 4: Cosplay all the Disney characters! #3

There's not many Disney ladies from live actions that I would like to cosplay but there are few. Also these are in a random order. These characters are a little more on the maybe side that on the LET'S COSPLAY THEM NOW if you know what I mean. But there's a lot of potential in these fine ladies so let's get on to the list!

Some might say what, but you have cosplayed Giselle already? Well yeah, but this curtain dress of hers has always been my favourite. I always thought that this dress was a little off limits for me because of the print the dress has. But you know what? I actually now know where I can get a fabric like that and I actually have a really pale pink fabric that I could use for the dress too. So Giselle might actually happen in the nearish future!

(The Wonderful Wizard of Oz)

I'm sure there's many opinions of this movie but I like this movie mostly for it's costumes. And when I went to see it with a friend I actually made a post to my fb-page that I want to and need to cosplay Theodora. I just loved the outfit. But you know what? Theodora is the one on this list I most likely will never get to cosplay. But we never know, maybe I'll find myself making this costume in the future (at least now that I told that I won't be cosplaying her). But still I keep her on my lit because maybe someday it's this costumes turn.

Anastasia Tremaine

Who could not want to cosplay something so truly awful? Just look at the dresses of Anastasia and Drizella. I love how awful the dresses are still being kinda pretty in a very odd way. I have loved the stepsisters of Cinderella and now there's actually a costume I would like to do! Just imagine all the derpy photos I could take with someone a Drizella. I guess I have to start searching for a sister! And also there is a reason I want to cosplay Anastasia and not Drizella is that in the movie Anastasia has softer facial features than Drizella and I believe I could pull her off better.

(Alice in Wonderland)

There's actually two dresses I really would love to make from Alice in Wonderland. And happily I found a picture of these dresses together. The one on the left is the one Alice has on while she is at The Red Queen's castle. The other one she wears when she's tiny and Mad Hatter makes the dress for her. These two dresses are my ultimate favourites of hers. And you know what? I looove Colleen Atwood's designs. And I'm already super excited for the Alice: Through the Looking Glass and also for The Huntsman: Winter's War (which is coming from Universal not Disney - I know!). I'm pretty sure that I will find many characters or at least costume to make from those movies too.

And I know that my live action list is actually really short. Which I find actually good as these characters are played by actresses and aren't drawn and I would actually like to resemble the actresses even a little. And I'm not saying I do resemble any of them but still.. That would be a nice plus. And I'm pretty certain that I forgot some ladies from my list even though I went through a list of all the Disney movies ever made. But let's see what tomorrow brings. Bye!

Day 3: Desucon 2015 through photos

I actually had started making post about Desucon 2015, but with lack of pictures of my costumes I never really got myself into finishing that post. Now I decided to make that post, still without those photos of my costumes but you will see a lot of selfies (hopefully, I can't actually at the moment remember if I took that many selfies during the event.. hmm..) and other photos. Even couple of photoshoot photos.

On Friday I was just basic me, on Saturday I cosplayed Claudette the Bimbette together with Ilona and Kizzy as my triplet sisters and for Sunday I finally finished my Thumbelina costume! Also I was once again working at the convention as a cosplay worker and I even got my 15 seconds on stage haha. Fun times we had. Also one of the best things was that people told us, the Bimbettes, that during the day we started to look kinda one and the same. Which is very good as we were cosplaying triplets. But yeah, onto the photos!!

Day 2: Cosplay all the Disney characters! #2

aaaaaaaaand it's time for the other part of my Disney list! This list still only contains characters from different Disney animations (also Pixar) so let's get started, shall we? Also I forgot to add the next lady before Esmeralda (as the movie she's in came out before The Huchback of Notre Dame) so bear with me a little.

Bo Peep
(Toy Story)

As some may remember back in 2009 I actually cosplayed Bo. But I've never really been happy with the costume and as there's been at least rumours (I haven't checked them in awhile so I might be wrong) that the 4th movie will be about Woody and Bo. That's why I would love to redo my costume and show my never ending love for Toy Story movies!

The Muses and Megara

Oh boy. What I like about Megara is how she's a damsel in distress who needs no man to save her. I've always loved how she is so strong but at the same time she has this very vulnerable side to her which is very relatable. And then the oh so sassy muses. There was a birthday party back in 2009 where me and my friends talked about cosplaying the muses. My need to do it is still very strong. So yeah. I would looove to cosplay either Calliope (tallest) or Melpomene (long hair). But I guess I could cosplay Clio if needed (the second tallest with the scroll). I just think the muses need to happen, okay?

Jane Porter

Tarzan was actually the theme of one of our competition programs back when I skated. So I have watched this movie on so many occasions and now the songs by heart. I probably could still skate our program if needed, haha. So Tarzan has a special place in my heart and I WANT to cosplay from the movie. And for me the only choice is Jane. (I don't think I could pull off Tarzan ;D) I do like her first outfit and maybe will make it, but it's not on my list. Instead on my list is this simple yellow top ad green skirt outfit she has. I just want something easy and cozy once in awhile so yeah. That's the reasons for this outfit.

For a long time I thought that I would never cosplay Merida. But with time I noticed that I have kinda roundish face that could possibly suit her. Also I have those freckles that she also has. Soooo. I have actually started to like the idea of cosplaying her. But I would most likely do her lighter blue dress (the one he has when there's the competition of who gets to marry her) as that dress would be more interesting for me to make.

The Queens of Arendelle

See what I did there? The Queens of Arendelle? I'm so clever it hurts, not. I love Elsa and I feel like she is me in so many ways. I'm not even going there why I want to cosplay her again as it's a hole that will just keep on going if you know what I mean? The other character from Frozen that I would love is the mother of Elsa and Anna. (I guess she was called Queen Idun in Once Upon a Time?) She's also a character that you don't really get to know that well but I actually really love her clothing and would love to try and do something like those as I would get to challenge myself.

Honey Lemon
(Big Hero 6)

I loved the goofy, geeky, nerdy Honey Lemon since I first saw her. And that was way before I saw the movie. And after the movie I just felt like I have to cosplay her. And last summer I actually had plans to cosplay her but then again plans change. And I would love to make these two outfits of hers but there's actually a third outfit also that I need to make. So yeah, Honey Lemon will happen eventually.

And that is pretty much all the animated ladies I want to at the moment cosplay from Disney at some point. When and where is very open with all of them and groups would be super nice too! Gosh I'm super excited now that I actually went through my list here and have a good idea of characters that I might cosplay next year ;) But will see about that! Also tomorrow I won't go through characters for me to cosplay but it will be something different. So stay tuned!

Day 1: Cosplay all the Disney characters! #1

Hey you guys it's 1st of December! And I'm alive! Well that you would pretty much know already if you follow me on social media haha. I know that my blog has been dead silent this year. I don't know, I guess facebook just has come a bigger part for me when it comes to sharing my cosplay experiences an updates. But I decided to try to change that this month! We'll see how this will work out..

So I decided to have this kind of like Christmas calendar thing but not quite. I'm going to try to post something every day 'till Christmas eve. So this will hopefully light up my passion for blogging again. (Or maybe it's just time for me to stop completely blogging and just use fb, dunno)

Soooo the theme today is cosplay all the Disney characters! But not quite all of them and this post only contains characters from the animations (Walt Disney & Pixar) as I decided to make another post from the live action characters! And I actually decided to cut this one in half  haha. There's soooo many characters that I would love to cosplay and I have actually made a list! When the summer was over I also decided that I would try to cosplay at least one character from this list/year. So you'll see me as one of these characters in the year of 2016! (Not giving you guys any spoilers who it could be! haha.)

In my list I have the characters and also if they have many outfits all the outfits have been separately added to the list. So.. here we go? I was going to just edit everything together but I decided that it would be probably easiest to go these characters through from movie to movie. Also the order is from oldest to newest! (Just to make everything easier.)

I also remembered that last year Ilona actually made a calendar about her cosplay dreams/wishes/etc. and one of the days were about Disney characters. Whoops?

Snow White
(Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

So. Snow White. What can I say? I haven't ever really liked her. Ever. Which makes it a little funny that I would like to cosplay her. With Snow White what I like is pretty much just how she looks. I have always liked her looks, like the black hair and red lips. So yeah. I don't really think that I will cosplay her anytime soon but she is on my list.

 Blue Fairy

Blue Fairy is like Snow White. I don't really know that much about her as a character. (She's seen in the movie couple of times but that's that.) And the reason she actually first time popped into my mind was because I own a wig that I could use for her. Also I would love to try and create wings which I haven't done before so this costume, while being very simple, could gve me some challenging and new things to learn.

Cinderella is a character I don't hate but I also never really liked her either. After her live action film I have seen her in a little bit more in a positive way. She's always been such a sweet and caring character which I have liked so cosplaying her could be quite nice. Though with her I wouldn't want to make her ball gown but instead these two outfits. It's the peasant one and the mice made gown. I don't know why I seem to end up cosplaying characters with red or pink clothing as those two colors are the ones I dislike the most.. Hmm..

Princess Aurora
(The Sleeping Beauty)

Unlike the other characters I have always loved Aurora. I can't really point out why but I have always loved her and since I started cosplaying I have had her in my plans. And I really want to make both of her costumes that can be seen in the film. With her gown I have actually always struggled. Should it be blue or pink? As my favourite color growing up (and watching Disney movies) has been blue I feel like if I would cosplay her the dress should be blue.

Arista, Vanessa & Ariel
(The Little Mermaid)

So. This one is fun! Ariel goes into the same box with Snow White; I haven't really ever liked her but I have liked her design. Also I love the original tale and this movie adaptation of it a lot. So cosplaying Ariel hasn't really been that important for me but cosplaying from the movie has. And the first character I actually originally have wanted to cosplay from The Little Mermaid is Vanessa (Ursula you know). And she still is on my list. And if I ever would cosplay a mermaid it would definetly be Arista. I love Arista okay? (Also again with the red, what's wrong with me???) But Ariel also has outfits that I like, the blue dress and the sparkly dress. Yeah. The sparkly one s so fancy it just need to be done, okay?

(Beauty and the Beast)

Like Aurora I have always loved Belle (though Aurora wins). I have actually liked her pink winter dress the most and I have disliked the yellow ball gown. But as you can see I have all of her outfits here. I guess time has been good for me as over time I have started to like even the green and yellow dresses. (Yellow and green colors also go into the some "ugh"-bin with red and pink.. Yeah, I really liked blue as a child okay?) And a I have many times planned on making the pink dress maybe I could soonish finally do it? Or one of the other dresses. Don't know. So. Many. Choices.

Harem girl

After cosplaying The Bimbettes I actually wanted to cosplay more side characters and then these ladies ame to my mind. I would just love to cosplay them. And if someone would love to cosplay them with me I would be so happy. (Also this would work as a thinspiration for me okay?)

(The Hunchback of Notre Dame)

I don't think I have ever opened up about my passion for France? I really love France and because of that I actually studied french for a while. Also this movie. Gosh I love this movie. My favourite song from it is Hellfire. Yeah. Burn baby burn. Okay, back to business. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is pretty dark (so is pretty much every Disney movie....) but I still loved it. And actually back when I skated one of our shows was based around this movie (I played a skeleton with my synchronized skating team, it was awesome). So I see this movie from maybe a little more of a personal point of view. But yeah, Esmeralda has been my favourite Disney lady too and I've been planning on cosplaying her for years too. Especially her performance outfit has been to my liking. (Need to start pole dancing perhaps?) But her more regular outfits speaks to me too. I love the colors.

Yeah. So deep. I'm actually thinking that this post is already sooooo long and it's only halfway through so I will cut this here this time and continue it tomorrow. So let's continue tomorrow!

Was there any characters that were a surprise to you? Or have you planned on cosplaying some of these characters?
