Plans for summer and some progress!

Hello!

It's really been too long, actually I really wanted to do a vlog about my plans and progress, but I haven't had the time so I just made my decision to write about those things!

So, without further blabbering let's get into business!

So, my plans for Desucon can be seen there!

Beast is an old costume back from 2011, this time we finally have our Noah's Ark Circus-group!! (btw, if you are interested in joining, these characters are still available: Smile, Black, Suit, Dagger, Snake and Jumbo) Can't wait! I'm going to redo some parts of this costume, but basically there's not much for me to do :) Also Giselle and Thumbelina are both characters that I had planned on cosplaying last year, now I'm going to finish both of those! I haven't made any progress with Giselle yet (it's almost ready anyways), but for Thumbelina I made those white flowers she has in her hair :)

Two otome game characters for one convention! Don't know if that is a good or a bad thing! :')

But yeah, Rapunzel is an old plan from 2011 and this time I'm actually going to finish making this costume!

Also Ninnu will be cosplaying Henrietta Grimm (the heroine) from the same game~ :3 (And hopefully we'll get others to cosplay from this game too!)

I have worked with Rapunzels necklace and have now finished it!

Also I found a new way to paint jewelry! Maybe others have used this already but for me it was a new experience! And that is nail polish!

I really wanted to give those wooden pearls and that gem at front more jewel/expensive look so I got an idea to try using my blue nail polish with these and I think that the result is really good!

I'm so going to use it again with other jewelry! (That is if I get to work with jewelry again, haha :D)

Stocking has also been on my to-cosplay list for quite awhile!

This year I'm finally going to do this costume! Because I've been so hyped of this costume I have already started making her shoes, as I came across great shoes that could be modified for this purpose! Still need to add an ankle strap and then I can get to paint these! :3

Nell is actually only one that I haven't worked with yet.. And this made me realize that I've actually started working with almost all of my costumes for the summer :O OMG, this is unheard of! Maybe I'll be ready in time for all the conventions then, yes?

These are both pair cosplays, as Stocking I'll have Panty with me and when I'm Nell I'll have Iris with me! Both characters will be cosplayed by Lily! You'll get to see progress photos for those costumes too as I will be the one making them :')

I won't be making any big parts for any costume before my summer vacation starts as I'm way too busy with my studies now.. But for some reason I'm just so full of energy to make costumes so I guess you'll get small updates every now and then <3 div="">

By the way do you have your summer plans already made up? :D I think that I actually have planned all the way to 2014 already (not officially, but there's just so many costumes I want to do!!).. I'm really exited to get to cosplay again, last time I cosplayed was in July at Närcon and that was so long time ago, gosh .___. 

I got challenged

This was in Finnish, so I'll keep the rules etc as they have been like, but I will translate those to English! :)

11 Things about me

1. I'm 1st year clothing design student at the University of Lapland
2. I'm really busy with assingments at the moment
3. But I'm actually pretty happy with my life, even if it is pretty hectic
4. I want to be better at what I do
5. I would like to see the world, you know, travel and see more
6. I'm actually designing my first clothing collection at school atm, wuupwuup!
7. I've really grown as a person a lot this past year
8.  I dream really big
9. And hopefully someday I'll be able to reach my dreams
10. And I really like to read books
11. But sadly I don't have that much time to do so

Questions that I have to answer to

1. Syötkö ikinä outoja ruokayhdistelmiä, kuten pehmistä ranskalaisilla, eikä kukaan tunnu uskovan sen olevan hyvää? / Do you ever eat weird food combinations, like soft ice cream with french-fries, and it seems like no one can believe it could actually taste really good?
- Well.. I don't think that I have any weird food habits.. I actually eat pretty normally, but then there's food I hate and people are always wondering how I can hate this and that food.. :O

2. Tai mietitkö outoja ja paradoksaalisia asioita, kuten miksi kaiken sanotaan aina maistuvan ihan kanalle, mutta kana puolestaan ei maistu kaikelle? / Or do you ever wonder about weird and paradoxical things, like why it's been said that everything tastes like chicken but chicken itself don't taste like everything?
- Well, sometimes.. But very rarely.. It happens when I have too much time or someone says something that you can start thinking about more and you are in the mood for doing so.. I guess.. After I got to uni there has been way too many moments like these :D

3. Mikä on puku/asu/vaate, jonka haluat joskus toteuttaa ja ehkä aiotkin, mutta se vaan tuntuu liian ultimaattiselta vielä tähän hetkeen? / What costume/garment you would like to make and maybe even will do but at the moment still feels too ultimate to do? 
- Well, in cosplay world I have couple ultimate dream costumes (keeping those as a secret, sorry!) and in "real world" I actually would like to and probably will do the clothes from my collection so that we can have a fashion show with a friend from school!

4. Mikä on lempiväri ja syy, miksi uskot pitäväsi juuri siitä väristä? / What is your favourite colour and why do you think is the reason you like that colour?
- I'm not sure if I have a favourite color at the very moment, but I have always found blue (and different shades of it) to my liking.. I guess it's just the calming effect of it (and the fact that it looks nice with my brown hair)..

5. Voisitko matkustaa outoon maahan ja syödä siellä kaikkia paikallisia ruokia, kuten meduusoja? / Could you travel to a weird country and eat local food there, like jellyfish?
- I like to try new foods and I actually think that if I went to a trip like that I would try the local food! :)

6. Onko allergioita tai muita deadly-flaw:eja, jotka vaivaavat elämääsi? / Do you have any allergies or other deadly-flaws that bothers your life?
- NOPE, I'm actually really lucky not to have any allergies or other deadly-flaws..

7. Missä ja miten haluaisit viettää elämäsi mummo-pappa vuodet? / Where and how would you like to spend your retirement years?
- Well.. I don't know.. I want to be doing this that I like and to spend time with possible grandchild, I guess..

8. Miten on elämäsi sokerikulutuksen laita? / How much do you use sugar?
- Well.. Way too much, I guess? I try not to eat candy (but for some reason I've been eating some candy lately), but I don't count chocolate in that.. Also I don't like to drink sodas either.. Just every now and then.. But still I eat too much stuff with way too much sugar, yuck

9. Luetko paljon ja mitä? / Do you read a lot and what?
- Yup, books.. Or novels, as you should put it.. I enjoy fantasy with some romance :D I just find itreally nice.. But I also read stuff about spies and heists :D And most of them are YA books :)

10. Tuntuuko sinusta ikinä, että et nyt ihan ymmärrä mikä ihmisiä kiinnostaa massakulttuurissa, oli kyseessä sitten esimerkiksi pukeutuminen tai TV-ohjelman seuraaminen, vai oletko yksi massan seuraajista? / Do you ever get the feeling that you don't know why people are so interested in popular culture or are you one of those who follows popular culture?
- I believ that we all do this. We all follow popular culture, if we aren't conscious about it we do it unconsciously even if we like it or not..

11. Mitä sellaista tulet tekemään elämässäsi, jota ihmiset muistelevat vielä vuosien päästä? / What will you do in your life that will make people recall it even after many years?
- Well.. Hopefully something, but what that actually is, I don't have any idea! :D
But I really hope it's for something good I've done :3

Well.. I actually don't feel like making new questions and challenging anyone into this, because I don't know if those people that I would like to challenge have done this or want to do it..

And also I found these questions that I answered to really interesting,

Other stuff: I'm really busy with uni, as I already said, so I'm not sure how much I can do cosplay stuff right now.. So my blog will be staying pretty quiet for sometime now :(
Hopefully I'll get out of this maddness soon and to my summer vacation x__x

What I've been up to lately

So, as my blog has been on hiatus I decided to write something about what I've been doing lately!

Last week has been really something different, I've been going around Rovaniemi and attending to different events because: It's been Rovaniemi Design Week last week! YAY!

For me the biggest events were The Hanji Fashion Show and Lumotion Design Show!

"Hanji lasts for a thousand years and silk lasts for five hundred years."

Last Friday I had one of the most unique experiences! I went to see The Hanji Fashion Show that has been traveling through the world and this show was actually it's first here in Finland! All the clothes has been made out of Hanji, Korean paper!

I took some photos and recorded some video too, so I made one small vid out of my footage, sadly when I was saving it my program decided to remove some clips, I tried to fix it but with no luck :/

So try to enjoy it anyways?

And yesterday was the Lumotion Design Show!

I was working there, but I decided to take some video backstage to share the feeling we had there! :)

I learned a lot and had another unique experience! Next year my class will organize the same event, hopefully it'll be just as amazing (and better) than this one!

So what did I do? I helped some models change their clothes during the show and gave models blankets so that they would be warm (it was an outdoor show) :)

Also I got to see the second show from the audience!

I just wanted to share these vids with you guys :)

And I promise that next time I update my blog it will be very cosplay related!

Hi you all!

Yesterday I finally got the last push to finally make myself a facebook page!

I've been thinking about making one for sooooooo long and now I finally did it!

You may notice, that it's called Kifia Cosplay and not for example Kimmy Cosplay, well.. 

I've actually wanted to get rid of my old nick for ages now! So this helped me to get that "new start" I've wanted for some time too!

I will be updating my blog too, ofc, this ain't the end of my blog, but there I'll post more about what's going on right at the very moment, here I really can't do that :)

Also, I didn't get to go to Desucon Frostbite :(

That was because I didn't get any place to stay over at with my dog that would have gone with my budget! :(

Well, happily there's always next time and I've already started to work with summer costumes (I'll use my mystery costume and Belle at the next Desucon Frostbite, b/c those are pretty much winter costumes!) so there's going to be progress posts soon :3

Tallinn & Karnaluks

Last Monday I went to Tallinn with Lily, just to get a look of Karnaluks, a store that I've heard so much about everywhere!

I decided to do a post about it, but as it's not so easy for everyone from all over the world to go to Tallinn (or even as cheap) as it is for Estonians and Finns (at least that's what I think), I made my decision to write this post in finnish. But don't worry, there's going to be wip posts soon, and those I'm still going to write in english ofc!

Pakko ihan alkuun sanoa, että tuntuu hieman oudolta kirjoitella suomeksi, mutta whatever :D

Itse tosiaan viime maanantaina kävin Tallinnan päiväristeilyllä, ajatuksena käydä vierailemassa Karnaluksissa ja ostamassa tilpehööriä, sekä kangasta tulevia cosseja varten! Karnalukshan on siis Tallinnassa sijaitseva käsityötukku ja heidän valikoimastaan löytyy kaikkea: langat, puikot, koukut, vetoketjut, nauhat, napit, hakaneulat, solkilukot, soljet, pitsit, kuminauhat, ompelulangat, saumurilangat, korutarvikkeet, kankaat, paperilangat, sormuspohjat, pellavakankaat, bambupuikot, bambulangat, saumurit, ompelukoneet ja paljon muuta. Valikoima on mielettömän suuri.

Saapuessamme Tallinnaan Lilyn kanssa otimme suoraan taksin, Ja pyysimme viemään Karnaluksiin, kuski tiesi välittömästi minne mennä ja neuvoi meitä perilläkin tarkemmin Karnaluksin sijainnista, sekä kertoi lähellä olevasta kangaskaupasta!

Tallinnan taksikuskeille on tullut Karnaluks tutuksi, sillä se on noussut suomalaisturistien suosioon viime aikoina! Matka ei ollut pitkä ja taksi tuli meille maksamaan 12 euroa ja kun se oli jaettavissa osiin, niin se oli vain 6e/hlö.

Karnaluks sijaitsee osoitteessa Hermanni 1 ja sinne mennään sisälle lasiovista, jotka näyttävät tältä:

Tuolla sisällä on sitten metallinen ovi, josta mennään rappuun ja siitä toiseen kerrokseen, josta löytyy ovi Karnaluksiin, siellä kuuluu soittaa summeria ja myyjä avaa sitten oven päästäen sinut sisälle liikkeeseen.

Tuossa oikealla näkyy tuo ovikello. Huomioikaa aukioloajat, arkena klo 9-17, lauantaisin 9-15!

Oma ilmeeni oli kyllä varmasti näkemisen arvoinen kun pääsin sisälle liikkeeseen. Se on iso. Siellä on kaikkea. Olisin halunnut muuttaa asumaan sinne.

Sieltä oikeasti löytyy kaikki mistä voit unelmoida ja naurettavan alhaisiin hintoihin!

Tässä hieman kuvia liikkeestä, mikään ei ole minun ottamani, sillä en kehdannut ruveta liikkeessä kuvaamaan..

 Tuntuu, ettei me ehditty nähdä kuin lankoja (siellä oli monta huonetta täynnä lankoja!!!) ja nauhoja yms, ja meillä meni reipas tunti ihan vain löytämiemme asioiden etsimiseen! Ja emme todellakaan ostaneet paljoa!

Tässä siis pari asiaa, mitä suosittelen huomioimaan Karnaluksiin lähtiessä:

1. Tee selkeä lista siitä mitä haet sen lisäksi, että sinulla on mukana kuvia puvusta mitä olet tekemässä.

2. Varaa aikaa. PALJON aikaa. Jos olet päiväristeilyllä, niin koita minimoida kaikki muu meneminen.

3. Ota mukaasi käteistä, Karnaluksissa ei käy kortti.

Itse olin huomioinut vain kohdan 3 ja se kostautui :D Lisäksi en ollut tehnyt listaa asioista mitä tarvitsen vaan mukana oli pelkästään kuvat ja voin sanoa, että lista olisi kannattanut olla myös vieressä!

Tässä sitten hieman siitä, mitä itse ostin ja mitä myöskin Lilyn pukua varten löysimme:

Itselleni ostamaa helminauhaa on 15 metriä ja se maksoi 15,30 euroa!

Lily puolestaan osti 10 metriä kultaista metalliketjua joka maksoi hieman yli 6 euroa!

Ja kuten voitte huomata tunnissa löytyi aika vähän tavaraa! Itse kiertelin kauppaa silmäillen asioita, mutta koska kaikkea on vähän joka puolella ja monella eri tasolla ja eri huoneissa niin oli vaikeaa löytää edes nämä!

Itse aion luultavammin mennä uudelleen käymään Karnaluksissa hiihtolomallani ja kesälläkin varmasti aion käydä siellä, sen verran kaikkea mahdollista siellä oli!

Mutta kaikille vinkkinä vielä, että tarkkailkaa halpoja laivamatkoja Helsingistä Tallinnaan! Sillä kukaan tuskin haluaa maksaa itseään kipeäksi matkasta, koska sittenhän Karnaluksissa tehdyt säästöt menevät matkaan!

Itse suosittelen kaikille Karnaluksia, joilla vain on mahdollisuus sinne mennä ja jos jollekkin tulee jotain kysyttävää niin jättäkää rohkeasti kommenttia! :)
