Day 8: Tracon 2015 through photos

Sorry that I'm a day late. I guess I've just been so effing tired and after the seminar for my master's thesis I just wanted to sleep but I actually spent the evening cleaning my apartment for the holidays.
And I've actually had a hard time with if I should make this post or not as I don't really have that many photos of Tracon.. but still I ended making this post, haha.

I was working as a cosplay worker once again and as I spent most of Saturday at the backstage I didn't wear a costume that day. I was also very tired afterwards so I left to my friends place pretty early. On Sunday I was also working but had cosplay plans with a friend. So I wore my Beast costume again (the one I made to Frostbite). I only got individual photos during the day and in the evening we went to have a little photoshoot. I haven't had time to edit any actual photoshoot photos so I only have one and I decided to add it at the end of this post! :)

Friday evening, pizza time!!

Before leaving to the con, I was walking my dog.

I was wearing my rainboots as it was supposed to rain... and it didn't!
Do I look important? Good. (We were in the elevator and on our way to get food from green room)

Stage things, the hosts were practicing their opening for the show.

Had a break and went to eat, I decided to take some selfies.

SUNDAY! Again selfies in the elevator!

I chaged into costume during our break, still kept some of my normal clothing on.

After the competitions I got time to have fun with friends, here me and Ninnu decided to take pretty selfies as we were done shooting my costume and just talked a little and enjoyed the sun.
While we were just sitting on the bench with Ninnu, Alberto Mardegan photography came by and took photos of us!
At the evening we went to shoot Beast and Joker with Chamira as our photographer!

Day 7: Costume reveal for Desucon Frostbite!

Today I had one biiig deadline at university, so that's why today's post will be a little shorter as I'm tired as hell. I worked all weekend on my report and finished it just in time!

So, I decided to reveal my first new costume for Desucon Frostbite! And it's Chocola Meilleure! Some may remember that I have already cosplayed her once, but I've wanted to make this outfit of hers too and as my other costume (still a secret) is more complex it's nice to have at least one simple and comfy costume with me!

I've also been wondering if people would be interested hearing about my clothing design studies? Because I've been thinking if I could write about that too.. even though it's not quite cosplay related. So, anyone interested?

Day 6: Why Cosplay?

Thaki had made a nice post about how and why he started this fine hobby of his. At the end of the post he kinda challenged others to do the same. And I thought "why not?". I can't remember that I would have ever shared the story of how and why I started cosplaying and as I'm making this calendar kinda thingy I think that this topic is actually pretty suitable theme to blog about. So, he had some questions written down for others to answer to and those were:

1. How did you start cosplaying?
2. What makes cosplay an important hobby to you?
3. Why do you cosplay?

So let's begin, shall we?

First of all I got more into this manga and anime business when I was in 7th grade I guess? My friends back then were the "cool chicks" and I didn't know anything about manga. I had been watching Pokémon, Sailor Moon and other animes from tv (but at the time I didn't know they were called anime) though. During the spring of 7th grade I started hanging out with my bff and got more into manga and actually I really liked her drawings back then and that also inspired me to start drawing in that style. During the summer of 2006 my bff visited Finncon-Animecon and came back and told me about the event and showed photos too. That got me really excited and I guess it was her idea to go to Finncon-Animecon again in the summer of 2007 and I went along with her. I just can't quite remember how we got into making our own costumes but we ended up cosplaying Kairi and Naminé together with her. And after that we were super excited to go to another convention and to cosplay more and I guess I have just stayed on that road? My bff hasn't cosplayed in a long time which is sad as it used to be so much fun to cosplay together.

I'm not sharing you any photos of my first cosplay here, but if you want to see it you can just go check it on my facebook page. (I linked the photo, you are welcome.)

The second question is actually pretty hard. Because I haven't thought about this question that much. But I guess why cosplay is important to me is partly because of my past with it. Like starting the hobby with my bff and still cosplaying together with my friends is really important part of this hobby for me. Also I guess it has became a habit of mine and a way of life? I do cosplay characters that I really like, but cosplay isn't nowdays so much of showing the fangirl in me like it was back when I started. One reason to cosplay is also that I get to make things by hand and learn new things and make new friends constantly. I guess my reasons may seem a little shallow for some, but cosplay is really important even though I can't maybe show that well why it is important for me.

I actually think that questions 2 and 3 have pretty much the same answer.

Hopefully this post was any fun to read, sorry that I didn't write longer one, I just think a post full of text and no photos can be a little too much to handle. At least for me, haha :D

(Happy independence day to Finland, yay!)

All of these have been taken by the loveliest Yaci and she has also edited them! She does have some more, so let's hope I get my hands on those soon too so that I can share more awesome Bimbetteness with you guys!

Day 4: Cosplay all the Disney characters! #3

There's not many Disney ladies from live actions that I would like to cosplay but there are few. Also these are in a random order. These characters are a little more on the maybe side that on the LET'S COSPLAY THEM NOW if you know what I mean. But there's a lot of potential in these fine ladies so let's get on to the list!

Some might say what, but you have cosplayed Giselle already? Well yeah, but this curtain dress of hers has always been my favourite. I always thought that this dress was a little off limits for me because of the print the dress has. But you know what? I actually now know where I can get a fabric like that and I actually have a really pale pink fabric that I could use for the dress too. So Giselle might actually happen in the nearish future!

(The Wonderful Wizard of Oz)

I'm sure there's many opinions of this movie but I like this movie mostly for it's costumes. And when I went to see it with a friend I actually made a post to my fb-page that I want to and need to cosplay Theodora. I just loved the outfit. But you know what? Theodora is the one on this list I most likely will never get to cosplay. But we never know, maybe I'll find myself making this costume in the future (at least now that I told that I won't be cosplaying her). But still I keep her on my lit because maybe someday it's this costumes turn.

Anastasia Tremaine

Who could not want to cosplay something so truly awful? Just look at the dresses of Anastasia and Drizella. I love how awful the dresses are still being kinda pretty in a very odd way. I have loved the stepsisters of Cinderella and now there's actually a costume I would like to do! Just imagine all the derpy photos I could take with someone a Drizella. I guess I have to start searching for a sister! And also there is a reason I want to cosplay Anastasia and not Drizella is that in the movie Anastasia has softer facial features than Drizella and I believe I could pull her off better.

(Alice in Wonderland)

There's actually two dresses I really would love to make from Alice in Wonderland. And happily I found a picture of these dresses together. The one on the left is the one Alice has on while she is at The Red Queen's castle. The other one she wears when she's tiny and Mad Hatter makes the dress for her. These two dresses are my ultimate favourites of hers. And you know what? I looove Colleen Atwood's designs. And I'm already super excited for the Alice: Through the Looking Glass and also for The Huntsman: Winter's War (which is coming from Universal not Disney - I know!). I'm pretty sure that I will find many characters or at least costume to make from those movies too.

And I know that my live action list is actually really short. Which I find actually good as these characters are played by actresses and aren't drawn and I would actually like to resemble the actresses even a little. And I'm not saying I do resemble any of them but still.. That would be a nice plus. And I'm pretty certain that I forgot some ladies from my list even though I went through a list of all the Disney movies ever made. But let's see what tomorrow brings. Bye!
